2018 Reflection + Goals for 2019

Well, here goes another year.

 

2018 is truly a year that made me feel "full" in many different aspects. This is something that I haven't felt in a very, very long time.

 

I want to take a little bit of time to walk down the memory lane of 2018, and I will also talk about what I have in mind for 2019.

Before I start, I want to share the list I wrote down at the beginning of 2018.

 

 

 

It's amazing to see how much stuff I've accomplished (also ironic because I thought taking more picture would be the easiest for me to do... Though in a way I kind of achieved it, too, because I had to take lots of photos for my jobs)! 

 

I didn't really set a timeframe for when I wanted to complete all these things since some of them are really big goals. I didn't want to put too much pressure on myself because I know I would just give up. These are just the big things that I want to work on throughout the entire year. I'm very glad that I found the way that works for me, and the result was well.

 

 

Let's go with the chronological order.

 

I started my 2018 with a solo trip to Taiwan, where I spent a nice month to be with my friends and family. This was also the first time I see my boyfriend after we start dating. It was hands down the best vacation that I've ever had. I literally gained 15 pounds after that month. 

 

In March, I started preparing for citizenship. My interview didn't take place until late June, but I still very anxious even months before that. That was the biggest event I had for those couple of months. I passed my interview and was scheduled to take my oath on July 4th. This was the best 4th of July memory for me.

 

Then my family and I went to New Orleans for a short vacation the last week of July. I had the most amazing fried oyster there in a very long time! 

After the vacation, my life went back to normal for a while. I was more active in my job searching again. At the end of September, I got a phone interview. Then two weeks later I got the second interview. I accepted the job offer, put in the notice, and started my new position in late October.

 

My new position was about an hour drive from my parents' house, so I commuted a little bit before I moved into my new apartment. I found my apartment almost three weeks after I started my position and moved in the following week, the day before the first snow storm hit the area. 

 

In December, I started writing blog posts again after taking a long break. I also launched my first workbook/planner this month for a limited time free download. 

Seriously, I could not have asked for a better year. 

 

 

In 2019, I want to feel “improved.”

 

I want to improve at my job. Right now I'm still learning lots of different things every day, and I want to be able to get a better hang of things. 

 

I want to improve my design skill. I understand that I'm still lacking a lot, but I'm also very proud of how far I've come on this self-taught design journey. I really want to be able to take on projects in the future.

 

Those are the two big things I have in mind for improvement in the professional area. For my personal life, I want my networking skill to improve. That being said, I want to connect with more people next year.

 

I want to improve the fitness part of my life, which is non-existent at this point. I'm not saying that I want to get abs and start lifting tomorrow because I know this takes time to happen, and I definitely know how easily I will give up if I set my goals too big and don't see the result right away. I just want to get into some sort of routine every day or every other day to keep myself more active than I am now.

 

Again, these are big things that I want to work on for the next year. I'm not going to set any deadlines for it, but I do need to come up with something measurable for each of these goals, so I can keep track and see the progress later.

 

Also, I'll be using the Ways to a Better Life workbook/planner. This is what I've created this year to keep my life together as well as help me create a better lifestyle. I'm also opening this for a limited time free download for those who want to try it out!
