Teatime: My Favorite Movies

September 24, 2017

Couple weekends ago, I watched The Devil Wears Prada for like the 20th times (no joke). I realized that I've developed this habit: when I feel stressed out (especially about work) or uninspired, I would watch this movie, no matter how many times I've seen it before. And it always made me feel better. In this post, I would love to share some of my favorites movies, and hopefully, they'd give you some ideas if you're looking for something to watch!

The Devil Wears Prada (2006)

I absolutely loved this movie after I watched it for the first time. For years, I thought this movie was what my future would mostly look like. You know, after graduating from college I would land my first job in the big city. It would be extremely challenging, but I would be able to overcome it. Although my life not surprisingly did not turn out this way, this movie is still one of my favorites, and it's also my comfort film to watch when I'm stressed. No matter how many time I've watched it, it always brings me back to the time when I was full of ambitions and dreams. In addition, it also makes me feel really lucky that my boss isn't like that!

A Moment to Remember (2004)

Though I've seen plenty of K-Drama, this is the first Korean movie I've ever watched. I usually prefer comedies over the sad ones because it seems like the world is becoming crazier, and I just need to watch something that can make me laugh. However, this film has a special place in my heart. I love how both main characters are so supportive to each other; they are both so caring and loved. Also, seeing how the male character changed throughout the story was another reason why I love this film. He was cool and quiet in the beginning, but after he fell in love with the girl, he started showing more and more of his soft side. This movie reminds me the importance to cherish the people I love because you never what's going to happen tomorrow.

Léon: The Professional (1994)

I actually watched this movie couple years ago, though it's been out for twenty years. And after I watched it for the first time, I immediately fell in love and watched it again the next day, and of course, couple times after that through out these years. It's honestly so hard for me to explain why I love this film because it's just so amazing. I would like to mention one thing that I absolutely love about this movie other than the storyline, characters, costumes, and accessories is the lighting. Other than that, I really have no words to describe this masterpiece. If you're thinking what to watch for your next movie night and you haven't watched this, I highly recommend this (especially the uncut version)!

Shutter (2004)

Horror movies used to be my favorite genre, and I'm talking about the ones

that don't show too much blood or bones or organisms. However, I haven't been watching too many of horror films lately because I've become more and more scared of them as I grow older. But this doesn't change the fact that this movie is one of my favorites! I still remember the chill I got ten years ago after seeing the ending when everything makes sense. I know there is an American remake of this movie, but I still think the original was classic.

I also really like Zootopia and Moana, but I didn't watch them as many times as I watched all the ones I mentioned here. Though I'm sure, if I were to update this list next time, at least one of them will be in it.
